Provider-agnostic OSINT

Every open-source platform depends on suppliers it does not control. The question is whether your investigations survive one of them changing the deal.

Supplier risk is the real OSINT risk.

Open-source intelligence is assembled from other people’s data. Registries, commercial aggregators, platform APIs and scraped surfaces all sit outside your control, and all of them change: terms tighten, prices move, access is withdrawn, companies are acquired, and occasionally a source simply stops existing.

A platform that has hard-wired one supplier into its resolution layer inherits every one of those events as an outage. The architectural question worth asking a vendor is not which sources they have today. It is what happens to your open cases when one of those sources is gone next quarter.

What it means in practice

What makes a platform genuinely agnostic

Sources

Swappable beneath the analysis

Suppliers sit behind adapters, so adding, replacing or dropping one does not require rewriting the analytic layer above it or re-running closed work.

Models

Bring your own

No single AI vendor is baked in. That matters for cost, for sovereignty, and for the air-gapped case where an external model is not reachable at all.

Records

Portable out

Documented export formats, so the intelligence you have accumulated is not held hostage by the platform that happens to store it.

Provenance

An enrichment without a source is not evidence

A result that arrives with no source, no collection time and no confidence score is unusable in a fraud dispute, an investigation, or a courtroom. Every record Genesis returns carries all three, and they survive into whatever the analyst produces from it.

Genesis finds it. Magen keeps it.

Genesis is the acquisition, resolution, enrichment and monitoring layer, with provenance on every record, a public API and agent access. Magen is the entity graph, case management and governed-action layer above it, where an investigation is built and defended.

They are designed as one path. A record acquired in Genesis arrives in Magen with its source, collection time and confidence intact, so the graph an analyst works in is built from evidence that can be traced all the way back out again.

You never pay for an empty answer

If a lookup returns nothing, the call is free. It is a small commitment, and it is the one that tells you whether a vendor is confident in its own coverage.
